Interview with Isabel Hernandez
Jul 5, 2021- NAME AND SURNAME : ISABEL HERNANDEZ
- WORK FUNCTION : BACK OFFICE - ADMINISTRATION - CRM KEY USER
- TIME AT NEXANS : MORE THAN 30 YEARS
- PARTICULAR SKILL : PEOPLE SAY I HAVE A "GREEN FINGER". I HAVE A TERRACE AND I LIKE TO GROW PLANTS.
What is your job at Nexans Iberia?
Basically it is the Commercial Administration; the management of customers at the internal level. The sales reports, attending special requests from customers if they need to know their sales, technical data sheets... It is the support to the customer in the administrative and commercial part.
Also the CRM issue: providing support to users if they have any questions or doubts. Or new CRM applications.
How have you managed the pandemic while working ?
I think I managed it quite well. I worked a long time, many months at home. I managed it well. I had a very organized day: I tried to take the necessary breaks, so as not to sit in front of the computer for so many hours. I was very calm. It was not a big management effort. I missed my colleagues: we had daily contact but it is not the same; through the screen, things are very cold. Although I coped well with it, it's not something I would plan to do all the time.
What is your favorite memory at Nexans Iberia?
Uff is that I have so many. It's very difficult... there are many years, so I have memories of the colleagues I started with who are no longer with the company. When we were young, we worked a lot but we had a lot of fun. We were a very compact group, all the same age, and the truth is that we had a lot of fun. Going to work was a lot of fun.
A more recent good memory I have is the move of the company from Polinya to Granollers. Because it was really something we needed. The Polinya facilities had become very old, people were very separated. I think the move was beneficial for everyone.
Have your colleagues given you a nickname?
They call me Wikipedia : because I am very curious. When a topic is discussed, I like to know more.
If you could choose a Nexans position for one day, what would it be?
Surely, I would like to be in the factory. Because in all the years I've been in business but I've never been in a factory. And I have never seen the real manual work, the manufacturing of the cable. Next to a factory operator to know how a cable is made and to see the whole process.
What do you think of when you hear "Electrify the future"?
For me it is to create a more sustainable future - because electricity is much more sustainable than other resources -, cleaner, and to give the possibility to many more people to have access to electricity, which they do not have right now. Because it is a resource that can be made available to many more people and in a simpler way. And I think that's what we should all be looking for: a much more sustainable and cleaner future.
