Sonepar and Nexans sign an agreement for cable recycling

Sonepar entered into an agreement with Nexans for the collection and recycling of cables across all of the B2B distributor's branches and logistics centers in Spain. This process ensures complete traceability of the cables and is conducted by Nexans in partnership with an external company specializing in the recovery, recycling, and revaluation of waste materials.

Sonepar is the first company in Spain to participate in this Nexans project, which aims to promote circularity in the sector by repurposing cable waste through the recovery of its source materials such as copper, aluminum, and plastic. In the past year, Sonepar Spain recycled a total of 46,000 kilograms of cables through this initiative.

The remaining cables are shredded to produce copper and aluminum granules, which is reused in the manufacture of new cables and other products. Insulation plastics are also used for different purposes, for example in the manufacturing of plastic solid parts.
